Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.1

Adobe have just released Photoshop Lightroom 2.1. This release candidate version for Mac and PC adds support for 4 digital cameras, including the Nikon D700 and Nikon D90, and fixes quite a lot of bugs.

Pre-Photokina 2008: Pentax has announced the Km (or K2000, in the US), a new DSLR that will compete in the entry-level market. The camera, which is built around an image stabilized 10 megapixel sensor has been designed to be small, light and easy-to-use. The two lenses available in kits with the camera have also been re-engineered to be lighter. We’ve had a chance to use an early example and have prepared an in-depth, ten page preview of the new camera.

SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash 32GB : The recent release of Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II DSLR camera represents an emerging trend in digital imaging: the convergence of high-megapixel still photograph and High Definition (HD) video capture in a single digital single-reflex lens (DSLR) camera and the need for large-capacity memory cards to support these added capabilities. With flickr.com now allowing users to post 90 second videos, or “long photos” as they are called, the DSLR video movement has definitely arrived.

Carl Zeiss Tele-Tessar T* 4/85 ZM

Carl Zeiss have unveiled an 85mm telephoto lens for rangefinder cameras. The compact Tele-Tessar T* 4/85 ZM is a new addition to the ZM line of lenses. The lens is almost distortion-free and features excellent field curvature correction. Its shortest possible distance setting of only 0.9 m ensures maximum diversity of use. Its all-metal mount and sturdy design make it a multi-purpose lens for a wide variety of applications.

Winner of Postcards from the Park competition announced

The winner of this year’s Postcards from the Park competition has been named as John Rhodes from Thrapston in Northamptonshire. John won the East Midlands category with his image ‘Lone Tree’ and was named national winner at an awards ceremony in London on Tuesday. He wins £1000 of Jessops vouchers.

The competition, launched by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund in partnership with parks charity GreenSpace, received over 1600 entries from across the UK.

Pre-Photokina 2008: Leaf has announced the AFi-II 10, 7 and 6 digital medium format cameras and corresponding Aptus-II 10, 7 and 6 digital backs. AFi-II 7 and 10 have the first 90° tilting LCD screens on medium format cameras. In addition, the AFi-II 10 and Aptus‐II 10 use a 56 megapixel, 56 x 36mm wide imaging sensor. All of the new cameras backs feature 3.5" touch screen LCD displays, 12-stop dynamic range, 50-800 ISO range and 16-bit output.
